Silly firsts

flexagonIn the name of tracking firsts: yesterday I threw axes at a target for the first time, and brushed my teeth with an electric toothbrush for the first time. Two completely equivalent things that I'm sure get mentioned in the same sentence by many people, all the time.
I'm not good at axe-throwing, it turns out, and only got the thing to stick in the target once out of about 20-25 tries. I don't throw things a lot, or find it intuitive to hold on tight and keep my wrists firm until suddenly letting go. But the one time was satisfying. And, afterward, the instructor did a cartwheel for us and ripped the crotch out of his pants doing so, which was hilarious. (I'd feel bad for saying so, except he was laughing too and then told us another pants-ripping story.) That's what he gets for showing off for us, after we told him that most of us go to circus school.
