Not stuck in amber. Things are still happening. I messed up and ran out of Nala's fluids, but the vet was able to get me some the next day (I would normally have ordered more when opening the last bag of them, which would have been right at a week and a half ago... okay, no wonder). The cleaners came again, and I learned that I can take a video call from the porch while avoiding them. My old friend Blue finally gave away her motorcycle that's been sitting on my property for nine years, to a friendly-seeming oaf in his mid-20s who wants to fix it up for a girlfriend, so it's gone at last. I colored my new, overly-white sneakers with a black magic marker, and now they're grey with an interesting texture. And [personal profile] heisenbug trimmed my hair last weekend.

Attempts at having fun: I'm playing Snakebird on the phone with Norwoodbridge, and Outer Wilds is finally available on Steam so I'll probably play it with the bug if we can ever work out the controls and stop being so clumsy.

I've been seeing a few more people. Blue came in (with a mask on) to pet Nala, who she's known since kittenhood, and on Sunday I scooted 4 miles on my kick scooter to hang out on a patio with the Monk and his wife and a friend. Planning on one more distanced walk this weekend. My state is doing extremely well on covid at this point, and a small amount of masked and/or outdoor contact feels safe. I'm much less sure about the reopening of indoor dining on Monday; still, it brings a change to our Friday nights, as our favorite restaurant's sister restaurant is reopening for pickup. We can get something very close to tradition while supporting the same people. We'll walk, pick up, and sit in a nearby community garden... see how that goes.

The downstairs children have taken to swinging energetically on the hammock I put between trees next to the house, and I don't mind (though if they break their heads it's not my fault). In their place I would want to swing, too.
