I did Christmassy stuff yesterday--a bit of shopping and a bit of decorating, just one garland inside and a string of lights outside. And a whole lot of wrapping/packaging. But I still felt so festive. :) Forgive me, all you holiday-haters, for I am dreadfully normal in this regard. To me the decorations totally make up for the fact that it's overcommercialized, and even make up 90% for the fact that it's nominally religious.
Some days I'm smacked in the face with how normal I am... normal for where I live and my educational background anyway. After growing up as such an outsider, I admit to reveling in the normalcy. And yet I feel sad when I smile at the pretty goth girls and boys on the train and they don't smile back...

Date: 2004-11-27 04:01 pm (UTC)I think the extent of my christmas decorations this year is a wreath on the door. I have a small 3 foot fiber optic tree up in my house atm. I'll worry about going all out next year.
