Just a personal update
Jun. 14th, 2005 10:40 pmSo, I had a great 3-day weekend with a nice birthday dinner (two new words were introduced to the English language: incourteous and epithetic, which turns out to be a real word after all but it isn't quite what
hiddenbear meant). I also painted one of my kitchen walls a deep peacock blue, with
apfelsingail's help, and did a whole lot of chillin'. Oh, and I do owe you all a product review, when I find time to write one up. ;)
This week seems evenly divided between a schizophrenic work schedule (go away, bug reports, and let me finish up the new features) and trying to plan this weekend's trip to NYC. So far there's a lot of annoyance and money involved, because I'd already bought a nonrefundable Greyhound ticket (and a copy of Practical Common Lisp to read on the bus) when suddenly room opened up in someone's car. Then it turns out we have to wear the same thing to a fairly nice dinner and for clubbing, which precipitated a somewhat panicked trip to Wet Seal... sigh. All this and I still have no bachelorette-ish party favors. Ideas? Help me if you've got 'em. Otherwise everyone's getting a page worth of dirty limericks and that'll be that.
Tonight's condo meeting reflected a similar lack of togetherness and abundance of stupid little disconnected detail. Short story: we can't quite afford all the work we'd hoped to do on the exterior, so odds are good we'll have to do most of the work now and the rest next year. Everyone but us seems nervous about scraping up about $6K per condo this fall... which I can totally understand from the couple downstairs, but the woman upstairs who's in her 60s and has been in real estate for most of her career? It's a little odd. Maybe she, too, bought too many tickets and books and beaded shrugs every time she went to NYC. And yet even that wouldn't quite explain it.
