Demolition of the building across the street continues. Have you guys ever seen a remote-controlled jackhammer? It's like a 10-foot-tall excavator, with the jackhammer bit on the end of the articulated arm. The controls are attached by a wire, and it usually looks like a big yellow bird being walked on a leash, and pecking at the ground (or the walls, or whatever).

Well, now they've lifted one of those up about 6 stories in a big flat box, using a truly giant crane, and it is now pecking at the one tall concrete wall they left standing. It has to bend over the top of the wall and peck back at itself, because otherwise it'll just swing itself away. I really wish I had a camera... it looks for all the world like a baby dinosaur in a nest. So cute!

That's pretty cool- it almost makes me wish I had one. I could be the Phantom Demolisher, who sneaks in during the deepest night and mysteriously tears down ugly buildings. Just think of me as your friendly vigilante architect.
