Last night in yoga class I finally, and I do mean finally, kicked up to a handstand against the wall. Strangely, it wasn't even hard... I had just been missing one vitally important bit of technique that, for me anyway, was the final piece needed. I'm sure that for some people something else (say, strength, or not being scared of going upside-down) would be the last piece, but for me it was just to keep looking at the floor between my hands as I kicked up. As far as I can tell, this isn't just for stability -- it also arches the upper back, thus adusting the shoulders to an angle that's easier on the joint. Whatever the reason, if I remember to do it, I seem to float right up. Squee!

Guy whose name I can't remember, who noticed last time that my gaze wasn't staying on the floor, thank you. :)

Also, it's time for a product review of the Mooncup--whining on LJ about not getting my period is the best way to get it, so I've now had a chance to check it out.

Insertion, the first time, is admittedly a little creepy. I had some trouble at first holding it in a way that would stay folded as I got it in there. However, once I got it in it did pop right open, and it didn't hurt, aside from my prodding around to make sure it was in what I thought was the right place. It was so comfy I forgot to check on it later -- in fact I forgot all about it until almost noon, when indeed everything was still okay. Removal is a little trickier than I thought I would find it, which is my fault for overconfidently cutting off so much of the stem, but when it does come out it comes out vertically. No spillage. I also slept with it in and found it very comfortable, and again, no leakage... not in bed, not in yoga class, not at work. So far so good.

Ooh, congratulations on the handstand!! And on finally getting to try out the Mooncup! I have to admit, the whole idea is still kind of squiffy, but there is something appealing. I look forward to R's review.

See, the long-term thing is both appealing and creepy. The idea of REUSING a blood-catcher for so long. Cool and gross, all in one package.

True... yet another squiffy thought.

The title of your journal takes on a whole new meaning with this post. :-D

Congrats on getting the handstand - I can't imaging doing one without looking down, it would be very disorienting!
