Lots and lots of holiday parties

flexagonI woke up this morning because my cat was complaining that something didn't have a JMS interface. Okay, okay, kitty, I'll fix it... hey... wait a minute... our product doesn't use J2EE anymore, and who told you about the Java Messaging System anyway?
Things have gotten slightly better since then. As in, I think I'm at least awake.
Best line spoken at holiday party on Friday night: I want to get my left shoulder bleached.
Best line spoken at holiday party on Saturday night: I don't even know what ramekins are. Isn't that the Islamic holy month?
Favorite present so far: an ikebana vase I got in last night's Yankee Swap. I like it because I'd never heard of such a thing before. It's small, but can obviously be used to create a striking centerpiece with just a flower or two. I expect I will probably be practicing the nageire method, which means "to throw in or fling in", and that my attempts to incorporate elements symbolizing heaven, man, and earth will be on the weak side. Nonetheless, it is pretty.
I wish I had about three more days off.
