Palm pilot: two thumbs up. One button hot sync = joy. But I can tell right now I'm going to be happier if I buy some extra styluses for it ASAP, before I lose my first one (and before this model becomes obsolete and they stop selling them... yipes!).
Thinkgeek.com: thumbs sideways. The little acrobots I got in the mail last night were not as advertised, an annoying surprise last night -- I'm returning them in favor of buying 4 of the real thing. No compromise. :b On the other hand, their return process is smooth and the new ones have shipped already.
Whole wheat pasta: who the hell is eating it besides us?? They sell it in the normal aisles of Shaw's these days; HLM and I buy it exclusively; and yet I can never buy it when eating out. Today the classy little cafe near our workplace had a baked mac & cheese special, and I recommended to them that they make it with whole wheat macaroni, both to shake things up and because then maybe people like me would eat it... they looked at me like I was on crack. Sigh.
Weight: thumbs up. I left for vacation in a softer-than-I-like state, and came back quite pudgy and at an all-time high for weight. In the first week back I lost 3 lbs, and now the scale is stabilized but the pudge is still coming off my belly. A relief.
Fitness: thumbs turning upward. I did a real backbend last night for the first time since vacation (are you getting the feeling that vacation just about destroyed me? sigh... it's shocking how high-maintenance I really am). And I bound a half lotus with my left leg for the first time ever, so, woot! In the weight room, I'm slowly creeping up to my usual squat weight, 5 lbs per week so as not to be incapacitated by soreness (see Weight, above; don't want be to skipping workouts right now). I'm not there now though. Three more weeks to normalcy.
Olympic figure skating judges: thumbs down. Combining cruelty with an annoying lack of perspective, they provided their usual abrasive backdrop to some beautiful performances. I don't know why they feel the need to do that.
Home improvement: thumbs sideways. We have a plan for revamping our current closet and building in two brand-new ones in a way that should be inexpensive and practical. The downside is that the financial backing is me. For better or worse, Team DITCH seems to work most calmly that way for these smaller renovations. I'm approximately 4 times as invested in the condo as HLM is, so I guess that's to be expected... but will I really bother to pay for a kitchen renovation later this year? I know I'll be looking to invest a lump sum in something, but the kitchen is functional already, and I could easily get tired of this. We'll see.
Payless Shoes: thumbs up. I saw these gladiator sandals in their window today, and I just might just have to go back. Heck, for those prices (and a buy one, get one half-off sale, which we call BOGOs at work), I might just have to get black and bronze.
My new system at work: thumbs down. After four days I still don't have things development-ready. The process is way more complex than it should be, and we're using a buggy build system and a buggy home-rolled installer that can misbehave for days before it settles down and works, so it's not like I can really blame myself, but it's frustrating.

Date: 2006-02-25 03:01 am (UTC)I would LOVE to have a secret passageway or other hidden space, but... sigh... I think not in this home. Too small. The closets we're building will steal space directly from our dining room. :(
