So, yesterday ended up being Fun with Digital Camera day. I've had the thing less than a week and already I consider it a surprisingly essential toy. First I went on a nice walk in the cemetery with my friend M, and we took pictures of the snow-covered trees / statues / tombstones. Some of them came out pretty nicely, and while we were in there we saw a fox! It was great. I'd never seen a fox in real life before.

M also told me about this cool amateur site for digital photographers. There are some neat pictures there.

Had a late quick weightlifting session... then after I finally got home A and I discovered the "white board" mode of the camera, which makes all tones either WHITE or BLACK. Very dramatic and reminiscent of old detective novels, somehow. Once I got the light right I got a couple of pix of A that way that we both really like (which is extra-cool since he's hard to photograph well). Then we figured out the delayed shutter thing and got one of both of us together. Of course I have not uploaded any of this to my real website yet... but as I was lying in bed I was thinking about it, and I got some inspired ideas for website upgrades. Doing it all would require learning a few things... but that could be fun. I haven't had a good technical project going on the side since last summer.

After the pix and before the inspiration, A and I stayed up cleaning the house until 12:30 AM so the FMIL wouldn't expire when she walks in. It looks nice now.

I have to stop learning Javascript and get back to XML! Yes... I can feel myself getting drawn inexorably into another cycle of website development, all right. Please tell me this happens to other people too. :b

is it the FMIL?? No, it seems not to be. She's due any minute though.

I went to two TKD classes tonight and learned from J, a really nice black belt, how to fix my punches. I even got my balance back on triple kicks. (It helped a lot that the usual teacher is out and my friends didn't show up to learn their new form). And I learned that the next test is April 29; six weeks. Six weeks. Okay.
