This is by Richard Hoffman, friend of my favorite poetry prof who sometimes sends these things out, from his book Without Paradise.

"SO WHAT"

Here is a tiny weapon, devastating, undetectable.
Here is the switch to turn off the world.

The demise of an ancient question;
the voice no longer rises,

and a black hole, antimatter, widens
like a desperate pupil in the sudden dark.

Wow, thanks

I got a much more helpful person on the phone at the mortgage company today, who told me they were already working to get that $900 back into my escrow account where it belongs! Yay! Apparently they think they can do this, and of course they are large and powerful where I am small and clueless, so perhaps they really can. :)

This is a very good thing, not least because they couldn't give me a copy of the check they wrote, which the city was asking for--weird stuff about how property taxes really work. )

I had dreams about large spiderwebs last night. Large funnel webs, to be specific, near something I would have liked to get close to and pick up (a book I left in a field or backyard?). Sigh. I hate that.
