* Hmm, for a place with such a supposedly startup mentality, the two developers in my group who'd been there for 3 years sure were outta there by 5:10.

* I saw a variety of clothing worn, but officially, jeans are okay if you're not interfacing with the outside world, which I'm not. I am still planning on the one-step-up approach, but jeans once or twice a week ought to be fine. I'm thinking, like, tomorrow. :)

* My boss the VP (soon to be boss's boss, but for the moment just boss), who I really like, has 2 wrinkles between his eyebrows that are not deeply tanned at all. The rest of his face is deeply tanned. So when he's not crinkling his brow, they look funny. Tee hee.

* On my way home I bought a $10 tank top at Old Navy and got a "$10 off next $50" purchase in return... that's beyond sweet, because I could easily spend that much in there next time. Free tank top!

* I didn't really do any work today (no surprise). But as far as work goes, I'm being put in a sort-of QA capacity briefly to bring me up to speed on the project. Then I'll shift over to being a developer. We are getting a real in-group QA person as well, on Sept 7... he's an internal transfer, by the way, and there are a lot of those on the org charts. If I decide I like Politic Frog but not my group, there'll definitely be hope.

* Random nice things: my desk faces an unfinished, external brick wall. With a window in it. Purrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. And there's also a Koenig coffee machine (as at DSB) with a chocolate almond flavor that's a solid competitor with my old favorite flavor, Belgian chocolate nut. I'm taking this as a sign, a very good sign, even if it's coincidence.

There.

I'm sending off a long letter with tons of check copies to the stupid City of Somerville begging for our $900 back. It's taken us this long to get check copies from everyone involved, and by their rules (because there's a payment last August we couldn't verify) it's still legal for them to just keep our money, and then keep it forever when the house's account becomes obsolete. Still, I feel clean, because at this point I've done all I can. Maybe you can't fight city hall, but you can grovel and beg and relinquish all dignity. And you can be proud of it. :b
