It's remarkable just how much cleaning one can do and still essentially be living in a nasty, nasty house. Admittedly, some of the stuff I've done today has been weird, like washing out the garbage can with dish soap. And we went to Goodwill with some stuff from our old bathroom and an old porch chair. And I can see the floor in a couple of corners I haven't seen in a few weeks, thanks largely to being able to put things back in the bathroom and hallway where they've always belonged.

I'm slooooowly learning that it's okay to get rid of knickknacks you don't use or have on display anymore, even cute ones that somebody gave you. You can just... throw them out. The person doesn't materialize and scream at you, and you don't suddenly forget your past. Weird... I think I always assumed one or both of those things would happen.
