The meme: make a paragraph out of the first sentence of the first post of each month in 2004. This is supposed to be (kind of) what your year was like.

Yay for saying hi to LJ friends again! We moved to the condo on Saturday, in three hours, with a big 24-foot truck and a workforce of nine. Hell, I'd half forgotten that I said I was actually going to call a career counselor. Amazingly, I think I just got news that T and I will be getting the shared window office we asked for, since I definitely just received news that the new expanded office space is going to have four of them. Very fun concert last night with [profile] bluechromis and [profile] jg26 and a couple of brothel folks and me all watching HLM play his cello. Well, let's see... this weekend I read The DaVinci Code by Dan Brown and Starfish by Peter Watts (good!), repainted my porch railings where the paint was half peeled away (futile in terms of actual improvement, but it looks better), and dusted off my resume. Hunh. The weekend started out with catcalls and confusion. I can see happy from here and I don't have to squint too hard. I felt a little ooky last night, so instead of working out I did another chapter (a short chapter, on inner classes and anonymous inner classes) of my Java Programmer Certification book. You know the Java test I'm taking? Today is another first in dressing: the button-down shirt under a v-neck sweater look.

Sure enough... the career obsession comes through loud and clear. :)

I've been body-centric lately. Last night was my first Friday night class at the Dahn place (whose cultish associations I have been unable to prove, and have therefore decided not to worry about). Fridays are a bit different from the other classes. First there's the chaotic dancing part where you just bounce energetically and then move randomly as your body seems to feel the need... I've never ever felt remotely loose when doing anything like dancing around other people, but somehow in that atmosphere I did, and it was shockingly effective for release of tension. I can easily imagine doing the same thing alone in my living room with the lights out and, say, the Mortal Kombat soundtrack playing. Then we moved on to do this long isometric exercise meditation holding a 'sleeping tiger' position, and I thought my quads were going to leap screaming from my legs and fall to their deaths. This was shockingly effective in causing me pain. Both experiences gave me some things to think about.

Today I got a 1-hr massage from the nice lady in Watertown [livejournal.com profile] apfelsingail introduced me to a while back, and then had lunch with [livejournal.com profile] hiddenbear. It was all good, very good. I love getting massages mostly just for how good they feel, but also for how much they teach me about where I store tension. Sometimes I have no idea until I feel the clever fingers crunching over a knot. I'd love to work something like that into my monthly budget, but yikes... if I was going alone and not getting the discount for bringing a friend, that'd be well over half the cost of a yoga membership. :o

The only other thing I did today (besides sex and weightlifting--I told you, it's been all about the body) is draw up some origami instructions. I've never tried that before... it's really hard. I have a whole new level of respect for origami books.
