What I hope
Apr. 20th, 2006 09:51 amI had to drop my kitty off at the vet this morning for dentistry, after starving her for 12 hours and then not giving her water this morning. I felt like an awful person. She seemed so puzzled and miserable. I sat with my face close to the carrier and talked to her while waiting for the vet, and she put her face on my fingers and let me comfort her a little. I forget sometimes how beautiful she is, how much detail there is around her eyes and nose.
They said they'd give her something for her nerves (yeah right... to save their hearing, more likely), so I hope she's happily sleepy on her favorite sweatshirt, which is in her carrier. In fact, I hope they gave her kitty opium. I hope she's high as a kite. I hope the universe suddenly makes sense to her and she's having a religious epiphany. I hope she's seeing the kind of swirling colors that gave rise to tie-dye in the 70s (not terribly likely, as cats can see color but not the full spectrum we do).
And, well, I was just typing this when
heisenbug wrote to say that the vet called and they've already cleaned her teeth and she's okay! That's all right, because I still hope she's high as a kite. Enjoy those drugs, kitty. I love you.
