B to the A to the M to the BOO.
Jul. 19th, 2007 10:51 pmToday's indulgence was a 100% bamboo t-shirt from sweetgrassfibers.com, which I bought at The Hempest. It was a wee bit expensive, but the fabric! It's cool to the touch like linen, but with a softness more like cotton and a slight sheen like a half-silk blend. Add that to the ridiculously renewable nature of bamboo, and I think in a few years this will be a seriously popular summer clothing material.
For those who are curious, the pure-hemp garments had a much rougher feel overall, but they had some shirts (like this one) made of a hemp/silk blend that was quite nice. And also some woven shirts and pants that were hemp, but could have passed for pleasantly coarse linen. I'll definitely be going back.
