Well, this is a new one for me. I was sitting in Starbucks when a man came in and ordered his latte at 190 degrees. And they did it. I've heard people order a lot of things, but I haven't heard anyone specify a temperature before. Now I wonder what their default temperature is.
And?
And?
- I'm trying not to be sick (meaning that in the "trying to get over a cold" way, not the "I feel nauseous" way). After being sick most of last week, yoga felt wonderful on Friday, but knocked me out for 12 hours that night, so I rested some more. Blah.
- Also, a guy wrote me about DSB today, saying he has an interview there tomorrow. Although I was at work at the time, I never let those go unanswered, so I replied at length... then tried to recruit him to Zillian. :-) DSB is all right for those who like a certain set of things, but people should know what to ask about when they go in to talk. So, I gave him tips, and now I can sleep with a clean conscience tonight... and feed his resume in to Zillian's system tomorrow. Nom nom nom.
- I spent impulse money on the internet this weekend. Two sweaters, two books. And you know how I feel about that? Fine... because fuck it, I only spent 1/50th of what I'm about to owe the government in taxes anyway.
heisenbug and I are really getting spanked this year, in spite of the fact that I overpaid Social Security (!) and so we're getting refunded by that amount. *groan* I'm kind of gobsmacked by how much we owe, actually. I so wish they could just take the right amount the first time, like would maybe be possible if we had a simplified tax code. Not to necessarily say eff el ay tee, just anything that didn't require legions of accountants and wild guesses on the part of the citizenry in order to comply with the law.
- I watched Al Gore's new slideshow on climate change on ted.com, while knitting. It strikes me that we're not quite ready to pull together as a species... or as part of a biosphere. People want to act on much more specialized definitions of themselves. This is either the beginning of a huge train of thought, or else it only seems profound because I'm tired, but I'm going to think about it more.
- My weird title is just something that was floating through my head as I was falling asleep last night. It's like an ancient saying from some bizarre culture, isn't it? But it was just some neurons misfiring.
