Getting things done
Nov. 6th, 2011 08:48 pmIt's an STS weekend: slamming through shit. It's kind of reassuring that when I'm at home I can indeed make progress against my to-do lists. I did lots of ridiculous little things that have been hanging over my head... taking new jeans to the tailor, registering the Starbucks card that I've had for months, blah, blah, blah. Best of all -- as of five minutes ago, and for the first time in many moons, I'm down to zero starred emails. Admittedly, that's partly because I made a consolidated list of Phone Chores so that the ones needing a phone call can all get sorted out at once if I can find a phone room during business hours tomorrow, but I'm still proud. Answering some of these took serious work, like opening up my computer so that I could intelligently write back to Logisys customer support. (That email was two months old... I am not a hardware girl.)
This is lovely. Once I get the number this low, it's easy to stay low for a while.
There was a lovely nap on the couch this afternoon, as well, complete with cat.
I seem to have snapped into "winter mode" suddenly, and that means nesting urges. Yesterday I bought a ton of groceries and squirreled them all away, and cooked a bunch of it up; today was more house-oriented, as I finally bought the window shades
heisenbug and I have been iterating toward for a while. It'll be our first condo-improvement since the initial batch of "making it liveable" work we did when we moved in. And that reminded me of one or two more things that don't seem too overwhelming and might really pay off, like replacing this bank of windows in front of my desk with some good triple-pane ones before the real cold hits.
I still hate our vanity and might work on getting a new one, but if it has to wait until spring... well, a vanity won't keep me warm. First things first.
