  • I love being able to do wall-assisted press handstands, but I have two problems with them. One is that I have to get my wrists SO warmed up before I can even start trying them, but I can live with that... the other is that I keep forgetting the feel of how they work. Saturday I must've tried four times to get started, but there wasn't any UP. I'd lost the feel of it completely. I sulked, went and got a new junky magazine to look through, almost gave up on them entirely for the day, and finally decided to do 10 negatives (jumping up, coming down slowly). After the first three negatives I leaned forward for the fourth and felt like I could press up, and I did, and I went on to do ten real ones from there. ARGH! How I wish I could learn a move and then simply... know it. I don't even know what goes wrong when it doesn't work -- I have a theory about what I was missing on Saturday at first, but only a theory.

  • I've realized I don't identify enough with the condo to be particularly "aw shucks" when someone compliments it. My reaction is more I KNOW, RIGHT!? In my mind it's still the object of desire; I don't associate it with myself, and I'm not used to it. Which is actually funny, because finding it on the market was sheer luck but we should at least be able to take credit for what we've done with it. Fine: I take credit for not gumming it up with a bunch of stuff. If someone compliments me for that I'll be situation-appropriate and say aw shucks, thank you, I try.

  • Change and Motion: Calculus Made Clear is on its way to me (on DVD) from the Great Courses people. It has 24 lectures of 30 minutes each, and I hear they move fairly slowly, so my plan is to watch one or two every weekend while knitting away on [livejournal.com profile] heisenbug's long-neglected sweater sleeve. I guess this either sounds delicious to you or it doesn't... I'm really looking forward to it.
