ZOMG, standing hand-to-hands are something else. I showed up to a semi-private tonight to learn them, and I was scared I'd just totally disappoint two people for 90 minutes. Praise be, this is not what happened. I learned so much! Like, in a standing h2h you can't actually see the ground, or not really. I learned that (some) trapeze people think partner acrobats are crazy. I also feel like I just grew up a little bit, as an acrobat. Surely the first time you get and hold up such a trick for 10+ seconds is a rite of passage. Where are the initiation rites? Someone should be drawing shapes on my face with blood from the heart of a freshly slaughtered elk, or something.

We did just a smidge of standing foot-to-hand so that this base (Scooper, not the Ant) could figure out how to softly handle a vertical person, and I got the "bubble on the sea" feeling briefly. It made me grin, and I realized I would totally pay for that feeling. Is there such a thing as an acro gigolo? Because someday I'm going to be an 80-year-old woman who can't really do a lot anymore, but pays for someone to base her and someone to hold the lines, just for that. ^_^

On a petty note, I'm a bit sick of the base I was working with, but can't really give him black marks. Sure I want to kick him in the head, but I also realized I've seen him every day except Thursday in the last eight days. I don't really like to see anyone except [livejournal.com profile] heisenbug that much. I will, however, see him on both weekend days, and (sigh) I will probably like it. Then on Monday, my first rest day in two weeks. I am so tired. Seriously looking forward to Monday.
