Quiet, quiet giving of thanks day
Nov. 26th, 2015 11:54 pmToday I stayed home with the bug and the cats. I basically did three things:
1) Cook a shrimp omelet and read the last 1/4 of Seveneves, which was quite cheering in the end.
2) Go to the gym and discover that I can do a chinup -- and I do mean ONE single chinup -- with a 30lb dumbbell between my feet. Go figure! In an extremely chipper mood from this, experiment with doing crocs on various exercise equipment that was never intended for such; try my damndest to press a handstand off the big exercise ball; stretch out my splits. Not oversplits, because of going easy on the knee plus it's cold outside. But splits, on both sides, nonetheless.
3) Cook a turkey; and potatoes made roughly the way I learned in Paris; cauliflower; a blueberry/blackberry pie. I do so love doing this at home with
heisenbug... there's just nothing at stake. Like, I did a super lazy job with the pie crust and nobody cared! Yes, it is the best. I took an adorable picture of the bug eating at the dining room table, with the cats spaced around the table each with their little dish of turkey. <3
Snuggling, talking, a little email hither and yon, a very minor check-in on a work thing, and of course nearly endless washing of dishes; and that's a wrap.
