Reading Burnout is probably the most important thing I did this week, in between getting clobbered by things like an unusually heavy period and an unusually sleep-inducing vaccination. This was a pre-order that I've been looking forward to for months -- I'm not going to do a book review now because I'm about to read it again (doing the exercises this time) for a book club at work, and I'll have a less hot take on it then. But it's fairly clear to me that I need to make some changes, and the book gives me some decent ideas on what those could be.

Heh, and I also spent a while reading about hoarding, which always weirds me out and prompts me to tidy up for a while. The Clutter Image Rating Scale is interesting (Bedroom, Kitchen, Living Room) -- it's funny how that kitchen isn't so bad at level 2 aside from that thing on the floor, but at level 3 it clearly (to me) has a problem, where the bedroom goes from plain to total shithole by level 2, and I already dislike the living room at level 1. For anyone wondering why I hate clutter so much, I grew up with about Level 3 by this scale... every surface used for miscellaneous storage, all corners rounded by stuff, the one large table covered with who-knows-what except for a crescent shape that was kept clear for my dad to eat at. My house now isn't perfect most days, but at least we don't store random crap on the floor. Or on the table permanently, either.

I have some guilt about taking care of Nala, who of course is harder to care for than she used to be. She gets a pill every 3 days, which I forgot on Saturday and had to give her today, and I also ordered her a refill of her subcutaneous fluids last week with plenty of time to spare but forgot to pick them up from the vet. She'll be a little short on them tonight. I know she'll be fine, with respect to these small neglects (we've done the pill after 4 days a few times before), but I feel like a bad parent. Also like a bad spouse since the bug is going to pick up the fluids tomorrow, and I could have done it on Saturday if I'd remembered.

A good weekend otherwise, complete with a giant pile of meat at Fogo de Chao on Friday and a concert (2Cellos) on Saturday that has me wanting to listen to old AC/DC. The place a block away from me that used to sell the best french fries in town has closed, though, so a moment of silence for that. :-/
