Hot. Tired.
Jul. 22nd, 2019 12:23 amI forgot to say that I spent Monday teaching kids (OK, young people between high school and college) how to do basic HTML and CSS. It was fun as always, but I think I might be about done teaching this thing every summer; it takes a lot of time to prep 1 or 2 full days of material. After that, oof. Lots more crying (and I probably should track how often I cry at work, because of work, because that's a useful metric). I also did some crying away from work, because of things that were not work, because work/life balance is important.
Flexibility's been going well, in part because I've taken to browsing a pretty active flexibility forum on my phone when in the gym. Most of the time I don't learn anything, but it keeps me focused and interested, and I have in fact picked up some things from videos I click through on. I'm working on my middle splits again, in part because it gives me something to do with my pancake besides work on an over-pancake, and I wonder if my new stuff will cause anything to happen there. Maybe.
I went to a lesson at Body of Work on Saturday morning, except it turns out they met outside in a park. But... heat wave? Anyone? Halp? It was a good group, and we did some fun locomotion-y things, and also learned a bit about juggling a soccer ball. Didn't embarrass myself terribly. But the sweat, and the time of day, and the location, all make it difficult to want to go again. Whatever -- it's good to try things, and I ran into an old acroyoga friend there who I was happy to see.
Rounded out the hot, hot weekend with a Weird Al concert, and although he didn't sing "Eat It" he did put on a great show. Somehow the bug and his same-age friend didn't know "Weasel Stomping Day" but I did? Strange. They knew all the other songs a lot better.
Oh yeah, life goes on... long after the grilled cheese sandwich is gone.
