A few random smatterings
Jun. 7th, 2020 10:52 amI didn't realize how many of these things were going to be positive until I listed them out:
On the very down side, my downstairs neighbor seems to have a dry cough? Stoppit stoppit stoppit. Stop.
- Somehow I got a lot done at work this last week, even while reading about protests and police and racism. My staffing problem is solved and I didn't even have to write up a job posting... let's just say it's an immense privilege to be a manager with a good reputation, and with people who actively want to work with me, and I am relieved.
- This week's tiny pandemic win was buying tree straps to hang my old hammock chair between two trees beside our house. It worked, in the "easy, worked perfectly on the first try" way that things don't usually work.
- I also finished bordering my T-shirt quilt. There's a magic about folding that final flap of fabric over about 6 layers of raw edge, and suddenly having something finished-looking and tidy. I spent extra time getting the mitered corners just right, and now I have to decide on the final quilting pattern (the part where you stitch all over the blanket), but in the meantime the quilt is usable. It just has a lot of safety pins in it. I had one more T-shirt square and whipped up a matching pillowcase today, because I had extra fabric and it was easy.
- Today I straddle pressed a handstand from a 5.5" height, which is a record, and got a 70-second hold on video.
- I'm taking part of this upcoming week off to celebrate my birthday and just breathe.
