[37%] Better. Definitely better.
Apr. 4th, 2021 01:31 pmAll right. That was a miserable two weeks (It's always interesting to see how long a grief event or a Panik really takes me out for). The thing that brought me out of it is exactly what you think: scoring an appointment for Moderna, first dose on 4/6, at a nearby CVS. My state just yesterday morning expanded its list of who's qualified starting on 4/5... along with some reasonable co-morbidities it now includes overweight (BMI of 25) as well as obese (BMI of 30), which means the majority of the adult population. I wish they'd just open it up to everyone at this point -- feels like they're just punishing the small minority of skinny people who never smoked and who don't lift weights. Which sucks, since I'm pretty sure my friend who's suffered the most from this whole fucking pandemic is in that category.
I hung out with Helios Saturday afternoon (he read to me for a while while I painted his toes gold, and we did puzzles together, purr purr). It felt a little bit like goodbye, because his kid goes back to school on Monday and that's it for indoor dating for a few weeks. But, a compensatory joy: in three weeks the stars align to create an actually-safe weekend where we get to socialize without masks or distancing. Obvious translation: I get to kiss him. Yes. I have definitely never waited this long for a kiss before, much less known exactly when and where it was going to happen, but there's a spot in Mount Auburn Cemetery where we each separately and silently had the idea in late November... so we're going to go back there and have the idea again. It is a good plan. No, we don't care if it's raining that day. And between now and then we can scamper around in the parks and have picnics and do acro, and be all right, I think.
In other good news, both the excellent local restaurants that closed on New Years Day have reopened now that the weather is nicer, which gets me and the bug back to a happy place on Friday night takeout. And I finished my first 8-week course of workouts with my Australian trainer and will soon start another. I really like this guy. He was describing an adjustment I should make when doing an exercise and he says: TLDR - you will die if you make these changes (but be reborn as a better handbalancer and still be recognizable as the same person to your cats. Ahahahahaha.
I did more ambitious haircuts on both Norwood and
heisenbug and they both came out well.
I've been playing with the idea of setting quarterly intentions/goals for myself along a few axes. One set of options might be "social, professional, health/fitness and creative/learning" but there are others. I don't think I'm quite adopting this idea -- I have other ways of keeping my priorities straight -- but when I thought about it I realized I do know what I'm doing in each of these categories for the next 3 months or so, anyway.
