OK. My performance rating did indeed drop; more of a standard "you changed teams, so we're resetting you" message than a "you suck" message, but my old director did say something about how my old team exploded in the wake of my departure. Well, and of course she did -- in theory a leader should be able to set up a team that outlasts them. But -- in the end, if I were given a choice between the two possible ratings, knowing that 7 other people would be miserable if I took the higher one, I would take the lower one. I'm still ramping up on the new team and haven't done anything higher-score-worthy yet anyway.
Covid appears on its way down and out in my state. As we've crossed the 50% line on "some vaccination", the rates have started to decline -- and this is approximately in line with what they saw in Israel so this time I credit the vaccines. The main quote from the linked article: "the decrease in the clinical measures that we analyzed occurred only after more than 50% of the population in a given age group had been vaccinated by the first dose or recovered". We just fell from "Critical" risk down to "High" risk on covidactnow.com.
On a more personal note, I ordered enough at-home PCR test kits to get me through to my own full vaccination and it's only three (the fourth week gets me to full vax status just before I would normally do the kit). So that makes things feel more finite.
I get to kiss Helios tomorrow, about five months after I first wanted to. And also, uh, several other firsts. Yeah. I'm pretty sure my brain is going to melt.
