An observation: at the moment, for unknown reasons, I have to push and follow up on a lot of things or else they won't go. For instance, Hypercube's visit to the specialist vet two weeks ago? I never got test results back, so I finally called them. Found out that they'd emailed the wrong address along with getting her birthdate wrong (but they did find an infection and are prescribing antibiotics, which is good!). The prescription didn't get done on time, so I requested that CVS expedite it. It didn't get done by the next "on time" time either, and I finally stood there while they mixed it up. And this kind of thing, this extra stickiness, seems to pervade all.

Boring medical stuff )

Good things. I had dinner with an old work-friend, who told me amusing stories about van life and also introduced me to an excellent nearby Mediterranean restaurant, and also told me that Action Athletics, where they do ninja warrior training, is planning to open a gym in Boston sometime in spring 2023. Squee! It's going to be annoyingly far away, but will I at least try it out? Hell yes.

And I also saw the show Sacre by Circa (link is to a one-minute trailer), as well as to a free workshop run by four of the cast members at Local Circus School. It was pretty simple stuff, but it felt good to be out just reaffirming that my circus community still exists, and I learned another move or two for rolling around on the floor.

Helios and Perse were supposed to be part of the Sacre group, but that didn't happen because of the more exciting medical stuff in my circle -- poor Perse was in the hospital with endo-related pain, and no emergency surgery on the horizon yet (though we thought for a while it was becoming more likely). My squirrel has been exhausted, and Perse had to quit her job for the semester, which I know she hates and had no intention of doing even a few days ago. This has gotten worse super fast over the last 2-3 weeks, and it's scary how quickly bodies can do that. However, I wrote most of this paragraph on Friday and today she came home, so that at least is better.

And, HAHAHAHA right. Speaking of "scary how quickly", I shouldn't forget that Zillian stock fell 13% in two days this last week, following our making idiots of ourselves in the wake of a Microsoft announcement. Fucking execs. That burned so much more money than the layoffs a few weeks ago could possibly save, even short-term, and I'm so angry with them that I'm glad. Even though my own income depends on that stock. Our incentives are aligned, sure, but I lose an inch (an angry inch!) where they lose a mile.
