That overall stickiness continues. Like... I called MGH to see if the fax from my other doctor had landed in my MGH file and it had not. Like... I emailed the air quality lady to see whether we have results from the 3rd, then realized she'd never billed us either. Like... no word back from the nice zoning law attorney. Let's not even talk about how I am, myself, imposing the sticky on various people at work by not managing to clear my inbox or reply to much email. :(

However, this week the following things went right:

  • Caltrop got spayed on Wednesday, a routine surgery that went routinely. She dislikes her cone, and the taste of her pain meds, but otherwise is recovering fine. She's very cute and pitiful-looking with the cone on her head.

  • The vent people came on Friday with their huge scary vacuum and their brush-on-a-snake apparatus, and spent a few hours on Friday cleaning out our HVAC system. Took a bit longer than expected, but went fine, and the guys were very understanding of us shuffling cats from room to room; I spent several hours with cone-head Caltrop this way, reading Plain Bad Heroines when she was calm and petting her when she was not. This completes my efforts to improve my home allergen-wise.

  • I went to ninja warrior drop-in class on Wednesday, had a great time, did a couple of video-worthy things (ran up a 12-foot warp wall, yeah me!) and carefully didn't tear my hands. This was the same day I had a good handstand class with Spring, the first in several weeks; and workouts for the Perth guy also went well after a bit of a dip.

  • I attended the final session of my Designing Your Life book club. All four of us ladies who started it also finished it, and we all got something out of it, so yay. Happy to take that particular post-it off my wall.

  • Valentine's Day with the bug. There were roses. We threw caution to the wind and followed our old tradition of making cheese fondue, and it was delicious.

On the community front, I got to see Birdie today; she was auditioning at the local conservatory, and was able to eat lunch with me and spend an afternoon meeting Caltrop. She wants a kitten now. And I had a meeting with the Winemaker, who is writing a book about his time at Zillian and wants to include the saga of my long-ago performance troubles (including how the Winemaker got involved, and fixed things). I told him that's 100% fine and he's welcome to use my real name. It'll be fascinating to eventually read that from a totally different perspective.

Does it sound like kind of a lot is going on? It sounds like that to me too, readers. I'd venture to say there is a lot going on. I crashed out really hard on Friday evening, fell asleep for a solid 2.5 hrs before dinner and never quite woke up after that. But it feels a bit like things have turned a corner toward less chaotic, including at work where a deeply nebulous project is just starting to gel.

Perse's surgery has unexpectedly moved up to next Thursday thanks to a cancellation plus, apparently, her OB-GYN advocating for her persistently with every qualified surgeon at the local hospital. So that will be next week's added thing to deal with. I'm hoping to move some work things around so that I can sit with the freaked-out squirrel during surgery, and also cook some food for them.
