I felt more chill and cheerful last week, despite not being sure that was exactly warranted.

There was no less work to do. The junior folks' papers being done, they moved on to doing presentations on Thursday, which they needed just as much help with. I did slide edits, brief intro to public speaking, more slide edits, dry runs in which they presented to each other, and then finally sat through the real thing: a success. I also finalized who's getting hired for an open position (which really will be under my colleague, but I've taken on all his direct reports for a few weeks while he goes to get cancer surgery, so I've been running the staff request also), and finalizing that person's transfer will be the fun part of the upcoming week. I got nowhere on email though, and further nowhere on my deliverable that I was hoping to get back to, and that's... just how it crumbled. I didn't really stress about it.

I also made house progress. Lots of designing the rental-cottage kitchen using Sweet Home 3D, which was fun to learn, and I think/hope that I've come up with a design that gives a lot of people what they want. Then I remembered that I, too, have a house, and I fixed a window blind and figured out how to disassemble a tub spout (then ordered a new one). In the same way that I don't always enjoy work, I do always enjoy messing with houses. It's fun.

Somewhere in there I went to the office? I had this loose, cropped pair of pants from Athleta that I got over the winter extremely on sale, and I wore them for the first time. They're almost a split skirt, and I wasn't sure they were my style at all. But they were cute enough with sandals, and then they were so comfortable that I wore them AGAIN the next day. Yeah. Maybe I'm turning into one of those flowy-pants people in my middle years, at least for work? I bought another item from Halara that's even more split-skirtish, to see where the limits of this are.

I've been putting a harness on the kitten for a few minutes every day, hoping to work her up to taking walks outside this summer. She's bold enough, and doing much better with the harness than Hypercube ever did, but it'll take time.
