Last weekend's post is missing -- no, I found it, it got re-dated as April 1 somehow. That's a weird one. Filed a support request.

Work involved late nights again. One of my tech leads was out, and I covered the not-super-enviable task of whipping a different junior member's paper into shape in her stead (making about a billion comments and suggestions, junior person doing the actual changes). That TL has learned how to be a good tech lead and a good senior engineer, but hasn't learned how to teach others to become the same, and things are getting janky there; which, big sigh. In between pinch-hitting adventures, I gave a couple of moderately important presentations about my thing, and got compliments even on the one I thought was rather scattered. Kind of nice. I was crispy by Friday... I'll admit that the new schedule of half-days on Tuesdays and Fridays is less nice on a per-week basis. I'm optimizing for my workout schedule, though, and all of this is still way better than being full-time.

I'm spending some time on party planning, and floofed over to the event venue with the squirrel on Saturday to check it out, find the room, and hype the thing a little more on Facebook. There's a 30-person room reserved, and we're at 30 right now counting all the Probably and Maybe responses; I'm starting to think we will actually fill the thing, which would be cool. Being there was a bit overstimulating, but we got to crash in a quiet AirBnB afterward, and I spent all Sunday being quiet/solitary and nibbling away at personal email.

Fellow goth Gen-Xers deserve to know that Garbage has covered an old Souxsie song: Cities in Dust. It's so gritty and mournful. Pretty freaking dark re-do of No Return by Alanis, also... that one's for "Yellowjackets", which, now that I think of it, Florence (of Machine fame) also covered No Doubt for. Whatever's going on here, I'll take it.

And, since I'm now posting on Monday, there's been progress on the rental cottage; there were two appliances delivered, which I should pay myself back for, and Helios/Perse met with our future tenant and liked her, and I figured out how to move forward with the rental broker (getting background checks etc) when there's no listing needed.

Still tired, but the weather's lovely and things are looking up. Someone in my wider social circle died and that's sending out all kinds of ripples, but I didn't know the guy, so aside from "yipes, he had his stroke when he was my age", I can mostly just see his accolades as reminders of how to be remembered fondly.
