Social flutterbye
May. 6th, 2006 01:07 amSo today
heisenbug and I each went to two parties, one of which we even got to attend with each other. We also both have a play to go to tomorrow night, a party on Sunday morning and and dinner on Sunday night. Kind of funny that I've been feeling... snerk... lonely lately. So much for that. Oh, and it turns out that for reasons I can't disclose, I did in fact pick a good night to prioritize people. :)
Discussion of engagement rings:
Guy: Forget the ring, I think I'll buy you an engagement yak.
Girl: Can I wear it on my finger?
Guy: No, but you can ride it to work!
Discussion of badder-than-thou birthing stories:
Girl: My mother was in labor with me for 72 hours, and she always reminds me of it.
Guy: I broke my mother's coccyx on the way out.
Girl: I broke my mother's KNEECAP.
Guy: What? How the hell does a baby break a kneecap?
Politically incorrect voice inside my head, which nonetheless believes that everyone works out regularly:
I just realized that every single person at this party except me and
heisenbug has a distinct belly roll. Oh my. The extra weight must make it much harder to do handstands.

Date: 2006-05-07 01:23 pm (UTC)Oddly enough, at this party I overheard from discussions that the two most obese people are losing weight now. The least large people, who could be in great shape if they wanted to, are my closest friends and I happen to know they don't work out regularly. So... in part, yes, it does seem to come down to different levels of motivation. I just wonder sometimes why more people aren't more highly motivated!
