Today I walked about five miles with [livejournal.com profile] bluechromis and talked about life. Then I learned some more Scheme. My thumb is getting better, and I can put weight into my hands again. I killed a fly1 and fed it to the venus flytrap, which can't seem to catch anything for itself. I want to see this and I want to go here and I generally am feeling a bit more alive.

And oh, people, I have been getting so close on my left splits! -- even though I've just been working on them at McGym this week and that means I've mostly been working on them after the elliptical machine, which stiffens me up. Today I didn't do any lower-body strength stuff first, and I touched both my right thigh and my left calf to the ground! Can my butt be far behind?

I've realized that even touching my butt cheek down won't exactly mean success, since I'll be able to brush it on the floor quite a while before I'll be able to put weight into it and take my hands off the ground. There's some squish there. And yet... c l o s e r. I like it, not least because it's a lot less embarrassing to work on them when at least other people can tell what I'm trying to do. :)

Anyway, time to go out to dinner in the black strapless minidress I got at H&M for $10.99 a couple of weeks ago. I'm happy with that too. It has boning and laces, which means that a) it looks good on me, unlike tube tops and b) it stays!

1So if you've ever thought of me as being someone who wouldn't hurt a fly... sorry, it turns out that apparently I would.
