  • Last night I picked over the carcass of an old investment account (it hadn't been touched since 2003... I was sneezing from all the dust). It's back from the days when I was going to learn all about individual stock picking, and was taking classes from the Motley Fool and so forth.

Turns out I netted around 4% on the whole thing between 2003 and 2006. Ha, what a wash. I could have just tucked it all into a high-interest savings account and never thought about it again. I'm still glad for the experience -- I learned a lot -- but sheesh. Time to dismantle it. Some for the financial advisor, Flea, to manage, and some for Kiva. :)

  • Speaking of philanthropy-type things, I am so impressed with my two pregnant friends. I suggested to them the other day that they donate their babies' cord blood (something I'd never heard of before). The one who's due this month was already signed up to do so, and the other thanked me for doing the research for her since she'd been wanting to find out how. WOW, my friends are awesome.

  • [livejournal.com profile] hiddenbear , [livejournal.com profile] bluechromis and other locals, check out the [livejournal.com profile] davis_square community. It's currently all a-buzz with news of the Someday Cafe closing, but it seems useful in terms of hearing about local events.

  • I had a dream last night that a giant chunk of uterine lining came out of me and it was sort of jellyfish-like... no tendrils, just a disk about 6 in. across and kind of white/transparent but with a radial pattern of 6 thick white cords reaching out to the edges (I know this because [livejournal.com profile] jg26 picked it up and stretched it out across his hand... eww, and what was HE doing here?). It was kind of scary and I was wondering if my body had aborted an early-on baby or something. But then, a while after I thought I'd flushed it away, I found it clinging to the underside of the toilet lid. It was alive! Ahhhh! Then somehow I ended up at my childhood home in Montana, and it was alive and it could fly (UFO-like, and now it had dried out and had delicate little tendrils around its edges) and it had mind control. Insert random scenes here of encounters with much, much bigger, similar UFOs, all of which could make me do what they wanted. Mostly they wanted me to walk outside in the deep snow and stand there helpless as they got closer and closer and -- but then the stupid dream would keep changing. Finally at the end it was all pictured on the cover of a science fiction novel and I was planning out the sequel. And then I somehow ended up in a ballet class with [livejournal.com profile] nevers but I was wearing a short skirt with no underwear and it was just the classic "in a class I'm not prepared for and I'm horribly embarrassed" dream.

You amateur dream interpreters can go to town on that first one though. :)

  • I hate it that LJ is the most dead at the times when I post most.

Okay, you have a (not-so?) secret fear of motherhood, afraid that having children of your own would make them take over your mind and turn you into a science-fiction freak of nature :)

And she has an exhibitionist streak (but, everyone knew that). ;)

I've got that community as a watched community, but it isn't on my default view ... so I never actually see it. I'll try switching it to my default view for a couple weeks. Thanks!

If there's naked yoga there's naked ballet. Clearly your subconcious is driving you towards finding that class.

The davis_square comm is cool, thanks for pointing it out! :)
