Buying an indulgence

I took time out from financial-foo to carbon-neutralize my upcoming flight to Oregon at climatecare.org, which cost 8.29 pounds... not much, but it will go to a good project somewhere in the world. And yes, I have been on a bit of a philanthropic kick lately, or so it probably sounds -- but it's not generosity at all, it's tied in with that vague-but-strong urge to interact with the world more. If this is how my turning-30 crisis* comes to me, it's not so bad so far. I've felt more peaceful in the last couple of weeks. I think I'm reacting appropriately enough to the whatever-it-is.

*or being-29 crisis, according to the Saturn Return theory.

yeah, it's the kind of thing I wish I'd thought of! I have some friends who have gone carbon-neutral on the energy they burn in their house etc... but I thought I'd try it just with flights to begin with.
