Workouts and horcruxes

Ah. Good workouts today and yesterday. I lifted a little heavier than I had been in bench presses and squats, and I even succeeded in kicking up and over from a backbend after stepping one foot up onto a bench first. Perhaps a back walkover isn't impossible, someday.... Still, pictures of the ashtanga third series show me how far there is still to go. I love the Rajakapotasana picture (second from the bottom); the way the model is posed on the striped rug makes her look like she's mostly levitating. :)

Interesting question of the day: Does Dumbledore have a Horcrux? If so, I agree with the authors on what it must be.

Did you notice "Eka Pada Bakasana A", the one-legged crow pose? See, told you it was possible. I'm intrigued by the way they describe entering it from headstand... that might actually be an easier entrance than starting from tippy-toes with hands on the floor.

I'm off to the gym now and I think I'll try it. Not on the edge of an outcropping of rock like that guy though!

yes! i am intrigued, too. (but i am so turned off by the slightly bent leg and unpointed foot! haha).
how is it possible to jump from down dog to headstand though??

Ha! You picky ballet person, you.

People who are good at yoga can jump from down dog to low crane, using core strength to slow the move down at the end so they settle lightly onto their upper arms (I can't do this AT ALL). From there it's not difficult to transition gently into a headstand, first tipping forward until the head touches down and then lifting the legs (I can do that).

I assume that these insanely good people have found a way to condense this 2-move transition into 1 move (maybe even without touching the legs to the upper arms, who knows?) Either way you'd HAVE to slow the move down a lot with core strength and arms, so I imagine it'd be almost like jumping up into a handstand, then lowering down from a handstand to headstand.

Insane. :)

wow, now i must try this. i can lower from crane/crow into headstand, but i don't know about getting into the crow!

I read that whole article. I must say, it's quite well-written. I buy her theory. I always thought that Dumbledore might be coming back anyway, or at least Snape isn't really a bad guy, he's a double agent, and Dumbledore had planned his death somehow, knowing it could come to that.

I'm still totally obsessed with Snape. I really want him to be a good guy in the end. Maybe it's my thing for Alan Rickman talking. After seeing him in Sense and Sensibility- well, um, girl like boy.

The Horcrux theory is pretty interesting; it seems possible, although one trend as HP grew up is that his defenders did gradually die, one by one. It does seem that he is going to have to face Voldemort alone at the end.
