Finally! Finally finally finally...

M's baby, galica, was finally born a little over an hour ago, after something like 48 hours of labor. Here is a bit of my IM conversation with whiplash boy.

wb: he was born about an hour ago
soyfetus: jesus fucking christ
wb: that's my response
soyfetus: well, welcome to the world and i hope you choke on it for hurting my best friend, little [galica].

He also, at some point, said that with the amount of pain he just saw her go through, he's thinking the galica will be an only child... not sure he was really kidding, either. I am so utterly exhausted just thinking about it. My poor friend who always gets carded because she looks like she's 12, and who I always feel so protective towards... goddamn. I couldn't do much for her this time, that's for sure. Anyway, the hurtful little beast is 6 pounds, 2 ounces, and I will get around to forgiving it at some point after M does.... at the moment I'm afraid my sympathies lie entirely with the adults.

Yeah, I didn't say I was feeling entirely rational about this one. :) Forty-eight hours of pain is a wee bit beyond my comfort level though, whoever caused it. I mean, if that weren't childbirth and a "natural process", it would qualify as pretty nasty torture.

I'll call her this weekend, and then I'm sure I'll feel better.

HLM also reminds me that the body produces all these weird drugs so that mothers don't remember the process with much clarity. Sounds like a good thing to me.
