A long time ago I started to do this meme I picked up from
witch_kat, where you put some electronic music system on
shuffle and list the first line or two of lyrics from the first 25
songs that come up. You ask your friends to identify the songs
(without search engines), and as they're correctly identified you mark
them in bold. Found this in my drafts on gmail and realized I never
posted it. So here are my songs -- the first 25 that actually had
recognizable English lyrics and you'd have a shot at getting, anyway.
Have fun!
1.
suede
you always felt like suede
there are days I feel your twin
2.
nothing like this
felt in a kiss
cannot resist
3.
london calling
through the faraway towns
4.
and if I die today
I'll be the happy phantom
5.
dark night is dawning after all
strengthless but standing after all
i do not fear this after all
6.
the lunatic is on the grass
the lunatic is on the grass
7.
not tonight, Josephine
In an army's strength
therein lies the denouement
8.
I'll see you later
I can't imagine why
9.
I wanted to be with you alone
and talk about the weather
10.
Just take this candle
It's the one you gave to me
It has enough light
Just enough to torture me
11.
Always in my thoughts, you are
Always in my dreams, you are
12.
I thought that you knew it all
Yeah seen it ten times before
13.
All the world just stopped tonight
So you say you don't wanna stay together anymore
14.
Living as an angel in the place that I was born
Living on air, living in heaven
15.
I was staring out the window
the whole time he was talkin' to me
16.
Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day
17.
Can you patch my jeans, Peggy Anne
just a little stitch to mend the hole
18.
I ain't lookin to compete with you
Beat or cheat or mistreat you
19.
Fell off the edge again down in Juarez
20.
And the hallway moves like the ocean moves
and the hallway moves like the sea
21.
Tears on the sleeve of a man
Don't want to be a boy today
22.
How fast can I drink my silver tea (?)
While relay cameras monitor me
23.
Oh it's opening time down on fascination street
24.
And it's passing strange
And I'm waiting for the train
Caught up on this line again
25.
Excuse me but can I be you for a while

Date: 2006-08-23 01:27 pm (UTC)16. Pink Floyd, Time
I was going to complain about the preponderance of Tori, but then I started making my own list, and Tori kept coming up. I think most of the problem is that Tori manages to fit like 18 songs onto each CD, whereas Peter Gabriel (for example) usually has 9 or 10.

Date: 2006-08-24 12:15 am (UTC)Took me a while. That and a few others were really familiar but I couldn't remember what they sound like.

Date: 2006-08-29 02:07 pm (UTC)I'd be curious to see if there's any songs there that I know & should be recognizing and how many I've just never heard. All named so far (except 16) are in the latter category.

Date: 2006-08-30 02:27 am (UTC)The songs nobody got are by Porcupine Tree, Massive Attack, VAST, Tears for Fears, the Byrds, Fiona Apple, Sisters of Mercy, and Tweaker. So it would all depend how familiar you are with those artists and their work, whether you should have recognized them or not.
Nice to see you back on LJ... :)

Date: 2006-08-30 02:11 pm (UTC)Yeah, I realize I've been absent. For the most part, when I've been on my computer, whether @ home or @ work, I've been focusing on computer stuff (system/programming) rather than using it as a portal to other people.
