A little present from the Feds...

flexagonI got my monthly pay stub a few minutes ago--noticed that the hundreds digit was wrong and thought for a moment that this year's raise had been added in. But no, it's just that the feds withheld $64 less than usual for federal income tax. Does anyone know what's up with that? Did it happen to anyone else?
Oddly, I was going to post about money anyway. Ever since April (expensive Venice trip) I've been trying to get my checking account back up to where it otterbee (remember the otterbees, from Xanth? oh, you won't admit to reading Xanth. never mind then), and I've been failing. Looking back over the bank statements, it looks like I've been failing to hold steady, oh, ever since I cranked my savings amount to the current level early this year. I think now that I've simply been too hard on myself, and could be saving less and spending more without any problem (condo savings ahead of schedule, still, yay!). I do expect to get a raise next month, unless they've changed the raise-getting rules again, and if that happens maybe I can just take the raise as spending money and leave the savings amount alone. Otherwise, if it gets delayed, I'm going to decrease what I'm saving by $100/mo or so. That'll be a first for me, and I'll lose a few points in the solitaire game I play with myself about money... but I really hate looking at little $20 things and thinking I can't afford them. At my income level, that's just self-torture without a good reason.
Today I am again making sawdust. People are jealous. They keep looking in at me and my power drill. Yes, you peons... I alone in this office space am making sometihng tangible. :)
