Gymnastics #2

This gymnastics class was different from the first one in a lot of ways. More people showed up this time, and the initial part of the class (aside from the initial laps around the track) was completely different. We had to do ab stuff, and some leg-conditioning stuff, which were pretty much impossible for me after doing squats on Sunday, and after that they set up some different practice stations and it was kind of a free-for-all. Somewhat disappointing -- if we did the same things every week, I could theoretically observe myself getting better at them over time.
Cool moments: I did a back walkover (the kicking over part) all by myself on a foam wedge, and also a back handspring with a spot. My cartwheels/roundoffs were better too.
After last week strained my right forearm I've gone back to pretty religiously doing my forearm routine in the morning. It takes a little time, but I'd forgotten how good it feels. And this week my forearms seem okay -- go figure!

Hehe, anyway, great job on the back handspring! (And everything else of course too, but back handsprings are fun.) Is it wrong that when you mentioned foam wedges, these (http://www.holisticwisdom.com/sex-toys-wedges.htm) are what I thought of?

And ha, the big foam wedge (they call it "the cheese") does sound like the Liberator. On rather a different scale though. :)

Date: 2006-10-25 01:02 pm (UTC)and yay back hspring with spot! were you scared? i've done a couple with a spot and it's always fine but i always feel like OH MY GOD AM I REALLY GOING TO DO THIS AND NOT KILL THE SPOT?
i'm going to tumbling tonight! eee! the pace of the class seems to vary a lot and it seems like i might be one of the more advanced students so i hope i get something out of it.
i need to do this forearm routine. i always feel like it won't really help, but if you say so. my forearms are actually feeling a lot better over the past week than they had been.

Date: 2006-10-26 12:24 am (UTC)Jumping back and forth between high pushup position and squatting right at our hands, 50 times (in theory), followed by mountain climbers (keeping hands in the same place, put one foot forward and one foot back; jump to switch the feet positions). I guess those were supposed to work shoulders/chest more, but my legs were tired, so I couldn't do them for long :(
were you scared?
yes I was, very!
i need to do this forearm routine.
definitely try it... if after 2-3 days it isn't helping then maybe it doesn't work for you, but it totally fixes me, every time. Here it is:

Feel free to replace the elbow massage with the knee one! I've gotten really good at making the elbow feel awesome, but I've been doing it your way on the 3rd set when I'm ready for lots of pressure. :)
