Oh, holidays and work spread me so thin. I loved having friends around last week, and we had all kinds of interesting idea-swapping (the Eat Poop You Cat recommendation came from them; but then what's up with demanding tons of square footage because you have stuff you're afraid you can't obtain again at the same price? Helloooooo affluenza). Two hours after they were gone the house was so nice and clean... now, the next houseguest's plane has landed. But this one has no 3-year-old so
that should be all right. ;)
I am loving my flippy new hair. You know, I had forgotten I've pretty much liked my hair at every length since it hit my shoulders and started to drape a little bit. I'm glad I cut it... and glad that they took off more than I meant them to. I feel like, in a way, this is the first time that I haven't just been reacting to my dad always forcing me to get it cut short when I was a kid. Anyway, it flips around a lot more now, and swings, and spills over my shoulders and stuff, so in a lot of ways I think it looks better than it did when it was super-long.

As for the square footage comment - eesh. Spending 500K for a house an hour from the city sounds more expensive (both monetarily and psychologically) than eventually replacing some crap if it turns out to be necessary. And they could always go shop in AL at that point. Cuz, you know, that's what people do...go to AL to go shopping. Hehe. I do understand the whole "I had space and I don't want to give that up" argument though.

As for DS & WB, I'm with you on the "eesh". I felt they weren't seeing the intrinsic value of just NOT HAVING THE STUFF. On the other hand, that could have just been what they were saying... having a kid, being used to the extra space, and wanting a yard also have to be factors, which is reasonable. We didn't talk about it enough for me to really come down on them.
