Backlit skin the cat

Much better lit than the last attempt at capturing this; still backlit though. Grrr.
My goal is to touch my toes to the doorjamb and still make it back up and through...

very nice!! you'll be there in not time. now try the tuck through at the start (or do it as a pike-through) with straight arms :). ah, i need to keep training these even though i don't have a teacher pushing me on them anymore. i can do 2–3 full skin the cats in a row now :) but i could lose them so easily.

Arms are supposed to be straight the whole time? Jeez, that totally changes the feel of the first part (from something I can do to something I can't, in fact). Something to work on, apparently!

well, the skin the cat doesn't start till you're in a pike under the bar, so your arms at the beginning don't matter to the cat. but a tuck-through or pike-through is a conditioning/strength feat in itself, and it requires straight arms. in my training i always connect a pike-through with a skin the cat, but it's not necessary.

i only recently got pike-throughs without a spot, and i don't think i can do a tuck-through yet (although with natalie i always start with a pike-thru, skin the cat, come back down, then attempt a tuck-thru; maybe if i did the tuck first i'd make it?).

Trying to figure out how a pike-thru could possibly be easier than tucking. I suppose if you do it fast, the leg part of the move could give some momentum to help the shoulder part...

i think it's because in a pike-thru your body is very compact horizontally, and that makes it easier? dunno. let me try a tuck-thru while i'm fresh sometime this week.
