I went to Montana, but I'm back now... back in Boston, back online. Best part: floating down the river on inner tubes with my friend Sarah, trying to stand up on the inner tubes. (Succeeding! Yep, standing up went okay, it was the staying up that didn't happen so much.) Most annoying-but-funny part: solved a math problem for my dad, then found out that the numbers will be given to his conspiracy-theory nut friend for a weird article the friend is trying to write. Pointed out that it doesn't matter how many barrels' worth of oil would be in Flathead Lake if Flathead Lake were filled with oil rather than water, since indeed it is filled with water. Ah well, my dad isn't seeming suicidal and that's all I really ask for.
Made a list of things I like about Montana: there's no sales tax, and the tap water tastes good.
Solved by far the hardest word puzzle I ever have, a diagramless cryptic crossword that didn't even present the Across clues in order.
Knitted up the body part of a t-shirt, on the airplanes to and from everywhere. It got a little boring. Something's way wrong with the calculations I did, because I thought I'd run out of my ball of yarn before getting that far, but this is okay because it means I'll only need one more ball (6 more dollars) to finish the whole thing.
Met a potential new friend on the flight back from Montana to Atlanta, someone who lives about a block from me.
Came back to find that
birdofparadox has finished the nest I commissioned from her, which is just the bomb. So pretty!
A lot of people seem to love Montana, and I don't get it, but I do think it's a place that ought to be loved by someone, so it's just as well that they do. Me, I love Boston, and most specifically I love my bed, and I'm going there now.
