Small contentments

Life is full of small triumphs, and not just my own. Last night the Leaning Tower stood on a Bosu for a while at the gym -- I think she surprised herself!
And I discovered that it is good to set Pandora to some of the bands recently recommended to me and think about the music while knitting. Great Big Sea = yick, by the way; and Neutral Milk Hotel wavers between pretty good and annoying in a very Decemberists kind of way; but the station based off Explosions in the Sky is providing uniformly good work-music. There's something to be said for instrumental rock.
I was very deeply content yesterday, and today wasn't bad either. Moses was late to gymnastics, so we just had an open gym and Moses hung around to coach a little. My balance wasn't great and I didn't push myself hard. Spotted handstands where Moses keeps me close to balanced, but makes me pull myself off his hands if I start to fall forward or back, help more than anything else. I tried doing some drills with pulling myself off a wall, and I stretched out my splits and my pancake... repeatedly but gently. Nothing seems to be overstretched from Sunday, a minor miracle.
Mmm, and I've been reading Persepolis and really enjoying it. I love when random people on the subway are moved to tell me the book I'm reading is amazing. It's ironic that I'm reading this graphic novel about average people in Iran -- culturally sophisticated, finding it hard to take their government seriously -- just as our government seems to be thinking about attacking theirs. Hey, I have an idea, guys... let's not... kay, thanks.
Anyway, speaking of contentment, I have a new down comforter to be crawling under. It came last weekend and I've been sleeping much better ever since... it probably has to do with the not-shivering that came for free along with the blanket. Hope you all in internet-land are well tonight, too.

I bookmark via Pandora anything that's interesting (to me) so that I can hunt down artist/songs later.
