Forget about the economy and the LiveJournal layoffs, I found out this morning that there's been rather a lot of seismic activity at Yellowstone this week. Yay for possible supervolcano explosions.

Also, squirrels have discovered coffee:

On the plus side, if yellowstone goes kablooey, atmospheric volcanic ash could temporarily counteract global warming!

And for cataclysms, I'm more worried about Greenland (http://www.google.com/search?q=greenland+catastrophic+ice+melt).

Interesting, I always thought the main problem with Greenland was if it dumped enough fresh water into the north Atlantic that the Gulf Stream "conveyor belt" would stop, plunging Europe and parts of north America into sudden cooling.

But maybe scientists aren't thinking that anymore.

I guess the melting's bad enough. Not as dramatic as volcanos though.
