Red white red white

The big news of today is really that
heisenbug and I have been together for ten years. And so I have my binary roses up on the bookcase in our living room... red white red white is for 1010, the number of years we've been together in binary. It's a tradition, and so is the way we seem to kill our special-occasion restaurants; this year, we killed Antonia's, so tonight we ended up at the Blue Room. Pricey, good, but I would say not shockingly so. The search is on for the next place we love enough to kill.
Ten years!! Man, it almost makes me wish we were gay so that I could make a joke about that being like fifty straight-people years. Of course, we are straight, and married, and normal, but... well, when we first got together I wished upon a star every single night that we'd last for one year. One full, long, incredible year. I wanted that ever so much -- but never dreamed of asking for ten. :)
To surprise him, I got him this:

It's the wedding band he really liked when we got married (and still seems to like today), a titanium one exactly like the plain one he had already but with a stripe of inlaid platinum. In real life the stripe is more subtle than it looks like here, but still nice; and I like this because platinum is the metal of my wedding band too.
So good! It makes me purr. Just six more years and I'll start getting five roses on this day. :D
