I'm still a little surprised at myself for hitting "post" on that last post. I have a healthy respect for life's vagaries, and I've become quite shy about my little attempts to shape the future. However, you might be interested to know I wrote back to a local Microsoft recruiter today. The director of their site here is a woman who works four days per week, and I have to wonder how that's shaping the local culture.
In the meantime, life is good this week! Yesterday
apfelsingail came through town and got to attend acro class with me -- it was ever so strange and unexpected to see her in the middle of a regular week like that, and for just one evening. But good! It was fun to work on handstands together and introduce her to pieces of the acro posse, and my back is now fine with my doing back walkovers again. I did about five. Next week, a lot more.
The icing on the cake was selling some stock options, which always have that happy "surprise chunk of money" feel to them.
Today I heard back about the acroyoga intensive in December at Om Factory, and I got in, I got innnnnn! That's right
nevers, we are going to get to play. (Actually... maybe you could take it too. Interested at all?) I'm trying to talk others into joining me, of course, and most are saying that December feels too far-off to make plans. Feels right around the corner to me. I'm setting some rules: no front walkovers until after the intensive. And I'll try to think of a few other drills/stretches to do every day or every week until then. Last year I had no idea what I was getting into, this time I know all too much. :D Have to decide at some point between trying to couch-surf, staying in a hostel, or actually getting a hotel room (which would have a bathtub for epsom salt baths). Maybe some of each.

Um, AWKWARD TURTLE. I apparently was supposed to make hotel reservations in Santa Fe for my mom as well as for us, and I made reservations (just for us) at a price point more than twice what they were expecting to pay. We have until 8/4 to cancel them without penalty, so there's still some time to save this. But still, the turtle. *facepalm*
