Travel, homecoming
Nov. 9th, 2013 07:51 pmThis business trip was fairly phenomenal in terms of feeling good about work; well, okay, so I never caught up on current work-things, but I was productive and I had good meetings with people. I gave an hour-long presentation to another team about logging, a talk my senior colleague D usually gives. I was able to meaningfully update the slides, giving the talk itself was fun, and I knew the answers to the questions people asked.
I also got back my performance review, which was glowing.
Of course I totally fell apart physically. I never really timeshifted, my evenings were shot and I only really worked out once (I kept waiting too late).
Returning to Boston has therefore gone like this:
I'm so glad to be home, I don't even know if I'll do the Yanai Levor acro workshop in NYC in a couple of weeks. I might really, REALLY enjoy having that weekend to stay here and do Xmas prep.

Of course I totally fell apart physically. I never really timeshifted, my evenings were shot and I only really worked out once (I kept waiting too late).
Returning to Boston has therefore gone like this:
- Do laundry and otherwise insta-unpack
- Poop a lot
- Recycle large stack of snail mail
- Sleep for eleven hours
- Poop a lot MORE... where was it hiding?
- Try to pet hyperactive cat, who is too excited about my homecoming to sit still and be petted. Chase hyperactive cat up and down the hall.
- Read a lot of the Hyperbole and a Half book, which arrived in my absence. I mean, alot! READ ALOT. The alot loves books.
- Go to gym, attempt workout. Raise eyebrow at weak, stiff body not remembering what to do.
- Wrist still hurts; wonder if I will ever do handstands again, but assume probably so.
- Attempt to stretch out splits, knowing that it will suck and next time will be better.
- Obtain absurd pleasure from walking through Davis Square to buy chicken stock and bacon.

Date: 2013-11-10 03:26 pm (UTC)These days she skips the pissed-off phase. Maybe she understands now that I don't WANT to leave her, but more likely she just doesn't suffer as much while I'm gone. She's become used to several-day absences and knows they end up okay.
