Self-indulgent Saturday

It turns out that when I decide to take care of myself all day, 1) I am not social at all and 2) I get a lot of personal-chore type things done.

• Went to the store, bought things for heisenbug as well as bacon. Mmm, bacon. Made scrambled eggs to go with bacon, experimented with melting daiya over them to pretty decent effect.


• In a flash of genius, strained the bacon grease and saved for future use as a non-dairy egg frying substance -- move over, olive oil.


• Got my hair trimmed: goodbye, ratty ends.


• Mailed a package and an envelope at the post office.


• Went to the gym for a long, meditative leg workout, my first in about three weeks since I had had a twingy knee. Nothing hurt.


• Exfoliated and clay-masked my face, then moisturized the hell out of it.


• Played with double-lining my eyes, white liner outside the usual brown. It actually worked really well.


• Went to the Fluevog store to drop my Cece boots off for re-soling, having noticed one of them peeling off. Of course it would have been churlish not to try on anything from the spring collection, so I wound up coming home with these cuties:
  
  They're the Ease, from the Hopefuls family, and I thought I might like them after all the time I've been wishing the Hope Promise would come out in solid black.


• Enjoyed talking to super androgynous Fluevog guy, whose black-and-white nails reminded me of my eyeliner, and who wore heeled boots and agreed with me on wanting to be funky, not too girly, not too masculine.


• Read a big chunk of The Shining Girls... about which, hmm. It's well written, but I sort of get the sense that the author had a lot of great character sketches and no plot idea. A serial killer novel may have been her way of being able to introduce each one, have fun for a few pages, and then kill them before having to do anything too strenuous regarding character development.


• Continued on from Fluevog to Sephora, two incredibly expensive stores that in Boston are really close together. I wanted to buy a sulfur-based blemish treatment I'd read about. I also got more white eyeliner, replacement lipstick and a new eyeliner brush; would have bought white mascara if they'd sold any, and tried for a total snow-queen look.


• Played Scrabble with heisenbug after eating Redbones takeout, lost, wondered for the millionth time if Scrabble might not be a better game without the extra points granted for bingoes.


• Crashed with no alarm set.


Today is Systematic Sunday, in which I get worky things done.
