In which I do a tiny political thing
Oct. 17th, 2003 03:12 pmI just called a number I heard on the radio about a local clinical trial for female sterilization... not that I'd be all that likely to participate at this point unless I was fairly convinced it wouldn't interfere with one more egg donation, but... in their radio ad they specified that participants had to have one or more children, and that annoyed me enough to make me want to tweak them a little bit (it's so easy when you're me). Sure enough, the very first question in their see-if-you-qualify questionnaire was "Have you had at least one pregnancy and do you have at least one living child?". I was like, no pregnancy, one living child. To give the woman credit, she wasn't especially fazed by me, and just said the director would call me back and discuss it. So, I really doubt I'll qualify for the study, but I'll do my tiny bit toward promoting acceptance/awareness of the childfree and those who reproduce in freaky ways while I get disqualified.
Yawn... just seems like I'm positioned well to do things like this. Otherwise I really doubt I'd bother. Politics... culture... sigh.
