Cool, it's a mountaintop. Oink oink.
Oct. 19th, 2003 06:49 pmMmmmm. Feels nice to sit down and type. Feels nice just to be home... I haven't been here much this weekend.
Lessee, yesterday we went hiking with some coworker pals, up and down Mount Monadnock. I hiked well--didn't mess up any joints or get too sore. I would have been happier making about half the number of stops we made, but I guess with a 12-yr-old and a photographer in the group the frequent pauses were inevitable. Anyway, that took all day. Then today I hied myself to the mall and spent... well, lemme back up and explain that I had somehow gone into denial about my clothes wearing out, and had gotten down to one pair of jeans and one of cords that I could comfortably wear to work. Reasonable, until on Friday night I splattered grease all over the jeans. Crap! No pants! I found that situation disturbing, so I headed out on a mission to replace the jeans and find a pair of green cords... which I got, plus three other pairs of pants, a long denim skirt and some long-sleeved T-shirts from Old Navy. It was like hi, I'm a consumer and I have credit cards. Oink oink. Show me more merchandise! And that was annoying because I don't think of myself that way. But you know, at least I have pants now, probably more nice pairs of pants than I've ever owned at one time before. So that part is good.
Had a decent lifting session considering the hike yesterday and the cold I think I have. Some workouts are all about holding the line and not quitting. Now that I'm home and fed, I want to work on my magazine idea for a while. In bed. (Oh yeah, the new mattress got delivered on Friday--it's so thick it's like having a real bed. Yesterday morning I woke up and thought for a minute I was in a hotel or something, it felt so unfamiliar). I think I'm definitely going to approach B about going in on it with me, but not until I've thought it all through a bit better, and that means going through my book and doing all the stuff it says--writing down target customer groups, a mission statement, and all that.
So tired.... and so glad to have these few weekly hours all to myself. Sundays are when I recharge my psychic batteries--something I try to do a bit of every day, but the sunlit gym and then having the evening all to myself are just unbeatable for putting me in the mood to nurture myself. I'm more tired than usual because of the mall, this time, but still thankful.

Re: B rocks my world, btw...
Date: 2003-10-20 02:57 pm (UTC)Clearly we are on different clothing wavelengths ;-) I oink quite a bit!
Yeah? What's your nice pants count?
Date: 2003-10-20 03:16 pm (UTC)If we're getting all tenchical: I was not, by the way, counting summer pants. Thin linen and capris would have knocked my count up by three.
Re: Yeah? What's your nice pants count?
Date: 2003-10-20 03:24 pm (UTC)I have 7 pairs of black dress pants alone, though I generally only wear 3 pairs regularly.
If you count non-dress but fairly new and in good condition pants, then I've got another 6 pairs.
If you count jeans, I've got about 8 pairs of those.
Granted, only about 4 pairs of pants fit me right now since I'm nice and fatted up for the winter. :P
Re: Yeah? What's your nice pants count?
Date: 2003-10-20 05:23 pm (UTC)I keep remembering things like the 2 pairs of Newport News jeans I tend not to wear because they don't stretch, but nevertheless meet the other criteria. I dunno. I am indeed still not on your level, but hey, it's nice to have things to aspire to. ;)
