Handstands, Smitten, dermatology...

flexagonHandstands, oh, getting better at them. I held a demi-straddle handstand for 45 seconds in class on Monday night, based on Pokemon's timer rather than my counting, and my press from the physio ball is getting better. When I focus entirely on pulling my core over my hands, I barely notice the feet coming up... a strange thing. My deltoid has finally complained though, after about two weeks of 6-day-a-week practice, and I will reward it with a couple of days of freaking rest.
I need to add a leg-strength workout back in, too, as I find I get restless without it.
Post-holiday work is again (so quickly!) a big pile of email, and personal chatter for the last few days has been dominated by Smitten's breakup. Yes, breakup, the poor little creature got dumped on New Year's Eve. I've been doing a lot of listening, and feeling useless, and doing pragmatic things where I can ("look at this Craigslist posting for a room").
My face has been broken out in that weird "I don't think it's entirely acne" way, and I'm glad I have a dermatologist appointment on 2/3. With any luck, I can avoid cortisone for a few days beforehand and get that charming little rash that comes in under my eyes*, and make the doctor actually do a scraping and test it for what it is rather than just what it looks like. DO YOUR JOB, LAZY DOCTOR.
* Guess what this is called? "Periocular dermatitis." In other words, a rash under the eyes. Thank you, medical jargon, for clarifying.
